'Glass Cathedrals' /Psappha Ensemble /Manchester, UK

  • Hallé St Peter's Manchester United Kingdom (map)

Tonight’s packed programme features a major new work from one of our country’s greatest living composers. Commissioned by Psappha and written for incomparable jazz singer Ian Shaw and a 16-strong ensemble, Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Black Milk receives its world premiere tonight – and the composer himself will be on hand to introduce it. Grace-Evangeline Mason’s hauntingly tender piece for solo harp and Matthew Grouse’s invigorating bassoon solo complete a trio of world premieres, and our Viennese whirl ends with chamber-group classics by Webern and Berg.
