Premiere of 'Where the Birds Sing' for solo organ

Commissioned to mark 10 years of the Northern Irish International Organ Competition (NIIOC), ‘Where the Birds Sing’ was premiered on Monday in two concerts by Richard Gowers at Southwark Cathedral, firstly in his solo recital, followed by the gala recital in the evening. The piece will receive a further performance by Richard at Belfast Cathedral on April 6th.

Inspired by Jeanne Demessieux’s classic 12 Chorale Preludes on Gregorian Chant Themes, Gregoriana is a brand new solo organ anthology commissioned and curated by Anna Lapwood. The anthology consists of 12 new works written by 12 female composers, including Light, Revealing by Grace-Evangeline Mason based on Lumen ad revelationem gentium.

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s new 2021/22 programme has just been announced, which is the first season with Domingo Hindoyan at the helm as Chief Conductor, including exciting performances of four of Mason’s works such as world premieres of newly commissioned works ‘Mahler’s Letters’ and ‘In Her Own Valley’, as well as further performances of ‘Into The Abyss, I Throw Roses’ and ‘The Imagined Forest.’
